Yay! My turn to read MY VERY UNFAIRY TALE LIFE (and my first vlog).

Instead of cluttering up the post with typed words. I’ll let myself do the talking instead.

Here’s Anna’s blog/website where you can see the trailer and read the first chapter!

And here’s the extremely challenging science behind placing a frog on your head while taping a vlog.

And now the arc will soon be winging its way to someone new.

What middle grade or YA books are you looking forward to reading?

Crap. I don’t have the quicktime plugin. I’ll have to come back from home.

    • Laura August 5, 2011 at 11:09 am #

Sorry, since I don’t plan on vlogging often, I didn’t want to go the youtube way! And sorry that it takes a few secs to load. I’ll be honest, I’m a newbie when it comes to vlogs!

  2. Kris Asselin August 5, 2011 at 11:21 am #

Aag! I can’t download the plugin–it says it’s just for MAC! I’ll try later when I have more time to find something that will work. I REALLY want to see your vlog, Laura!

    • Laura August 5, 2011 at 11:35 am #

Sorry Kris. It’s a photobooth video (Mac) copied into quick time and uploaded to my computer through a wordtube plug in. Oh darn, maybe people won’t be able to see it! πŸ˜‰

  3. Ansha Kotyk August 5, 2011 at 11:41 am #

I have the plug-in and I could see it just fine. It didn’t even take up time to load. The video quality is great.
And can I just say I think you’re an awesome vlogger, and you should do it more often? Super fun! And I love the frog! πŸ™‚

    • Laura August 5, 2011 at 11:52 am #

Thanks for being kind. I need that. I just wonder how many people can actually see it.

  4. Wendy August 5, 2011 at 12:01 pm #

Bugger. I can’t see it. I still need to read the rest of the Hunger Games triology.

With a little time and effort, I managed to manually find the plugin! You are super cool Laura! And kudos for trying something new! All I did was pose for the camera at the beach holding the book. πŸ™‚

The whole vlog thing scares the pants off me! You did a stellar job!

  6. Donna K. Weaver August 5, 2011 at 12:10 pm #

Love the VLOG, Laura. And I can’t wait for your review of the book.

  7. Anna Staniszewski August 5, 2011 at 12:28 pm #

Laura, these were great! I actually laughed out loud when you recreated the cover pose. πŸ™‚ I’ll link to this on my blog in a minute. Yay!

Very cute. Great job! I’m scared to do vlogs. I’m looking forward to Shine by Jeri Smith-REady and Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick.

    • Laura August 5, 2011 at 12:58 pm #

Phew. As long as you approve Anna, since it’s your book and all! πŸ™‚

I’m kinda scared to do vlogs too Christine.

Sorry to anyone that can’t see it. πŸ™ I’m a newbie when it comes to vlogs!

  9. Anna Staniszewski August 5, 2011 at 1:08 pm #

    I certainly do approve!

I was thinking it might help to upload the videos to youtube and then embed them in your post? Then people might have an easier time viewing them. I’m certainly not a tech expert, though. πŸ™‚

Laura–so awesome! I love what you’ve done with Anna’s book! I had the book in the flurry of vacation, and took a few pictures with me with it in front of a few libraries. I’m saving them up, however, for when I have peace of mind to post something well-thought out (like you have done!) YAY for Anna’s book!! (Which is excellent, by the way!)

  11. Elle Strauss August 5, 2011 at 3:48 pm #

I can’t see the video, but I will head right on over to Anna’a blog. Her book sounds fantastic!

  12. Jenny Lundquist August 5, 2011 at 4:15 pm #

I could watch it just fine and I thought it was hilarious! Next time I can’t get my hair highlighted right away I’m buying a stuffed frog!

  13. Stina Lindenblatt August 5, 2011 at 5:26 pm #

OMG! I have the EXACT same frog. His name is Greenie and he belonged my 9 yo. He’s my writing buddy!

Oh! I showed my son your picture, Laura, and he took Greenie back. *pouts*

*goes off to search for new writing buddy*

  14. John Rea-Hedrick August 5, 2011 at 7:05 pm #

It’s nice to see (and hear!) new writers I follow. I get your posts via email so I’m a bit late to the party. Well done! Also, I’ve just shared something with you on Twitter that you may appreciate. πŸ˜‰ Cheers!

  15. Karen Strong August 5, 2011 at 9:26 pm #

Dang, I want a frog now!

I must say that I’m really impressed the frog stayed on your head the entire time.

After reading the first chapter, I can’t wait to read the book.

  16. bekah August 5, 2011 at 11:27 pm #

gotta get me a frog. enjoyed this!

  17. Jemi Fraser August 5, 2011 at 11:37 pm #

Love It! I was able to see it easily – no troubles at all. And you’re great!

I’m looking forward to this one, Medeia’s Bestest Ramadan Ever (which is released but I haven’t got yet) and so many more!

  18. Lydia K August 5, 2011 at 11:49 pm #

It took a minute to show up, but I watched your vlog and it was so good! I should have taken a screen capture when you reenaacted the cover. Awesome.

  19. LynNerd August 6, 2011 at 12:06 am #

Great job on the vlog, Laura. I have a Mac and had no problem viewing it, but now I know why some people weren’t able to see a short little vlog in one of my posts, because I didn’t put it on Youtube first. I’m new at vlogging, too, and making lots of mistakes, but learning from them. You have a good personality for vlogging, so I hope you do more of them.

I’d like to read Possession, as soon as I can afford to buy it.

    • Laura August 6, 2011 at 12:11 am #

I didn’t realize that some people would have trouble seeing it. I can see the benefit of doing youtube. And if I do a vlog again, I will consider it. I don’t want to vlog just to vlog. I would need a plan – after all I’m a plotter. πŸ™‚

  20. Katie Ganshert August 6, 2011 at 12:50 am #

That was AWESOME! I loved seeing it. Makes me want to upload this goofy potential vlog I did the other day.

  21. Theresa Milstein August 6, 2011 at 12:41 pm #

    Nice frog!

I’m looking forward to reading the 3rd book in the Prophecy of the Sisters trilogy and I’m excited about Wonderstruck. And your book, of course!

  22. Sherrie Petersen August 6, 2011 at 8:26 pm #

Very people look good with a frog on their heads. You happen to be one of the fortunate few πŸ™‚ I had no problem viewing the videos, but then, I’ve never owned anything but a Mac!

  23. terry lynn johnson August 7, 2011 at 12:57 am #

Love your vlog! Hopefully it’s not the last one we see of you. So great to hear your voice. Also, love the frog.
    I can’t wait for Anna’s book release!!!

    • Laura August 7, 2011 at 2:32 am #

It is funny to actually see and hear people for the first time. I love checking out peoples’ first vlogs! πŸ™‚

Thanks everyone. I’ll draw the winner on Monday!
