A Spy Like Me sneak peek and cover reveal! And a giveaway!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Lots going on today.

So I finally picked a date! A Spy Like Me will be officially released on May 7th, 2012. Woo hoo!

Seventeen-year-old Savvy Bent expects magic on her first date with Malcolm – in Paris! Except over a picnic of sparkling cider and strawberry tarts, a sniper shoots at them. That’s only the beginning. From the top of the Eiffel Tower to the depths of the catacombs, Savvy must sneak, deceive, and spy to save her family and friends and figure out whether Malcolm is the one of the bad guys before she completely falls for him. Or he tries to snuff her out.

Heather McCorkle of CP Designs helped me with it! Check her out.

Here’s the sneak peek of A Spy Like Me:

Friday 5 – Changing with the times, blogging, and chocolate chip cookies.

Friday 5 – Changing with the times, blogging, and chocolate chip cookies.

1. Just in case you didn’t know – which how could you not – Alex J. Cavanaugh’s sophomore book, Cassafire was released! He’s in the middle of a blog tour so go check him out if you like science fiction. (And everyone says, yeah, no kidding, Laura.)

2. My blog will be changing with me. I’ve given this a lot of thought now for weeks. I don’t do anything without a plan or research. Starting next week my blogging schedule will be morphing. On Mondays I’ll post about anything and everything related to my tagline: Savvy Spies, Murder and Mystery. I mean anything. Writing posts. Guest posts. Book reviews. Movies. Fun tidbits. Background information on A Spy Like Me. You name it.

On Thursdays I’ll be blogging about the changing industry and my self-publishing journey from the decision to ISBNs to marketing. I hope to bring in more experienced authors for guest posts. Because I never want anything to be just about me. But some of you have been curious.

And on Wednesdays and Fridays you’ll see the occasional blog tour post because a big part of the reason I started blogging was to support my friends and their books.

3. If any of you out there have the recipe for the perfect chocolate chip cookie, I’m open to it. Leave the recipe in the comments. Or email me. Seriously.

4. I downloaded Talli Roland’s book, Build A Man. And totally fell for the first chapter. Can’t wait to read the rest.

5. And next Monday I’ll be revealing my cover over at YA CONFIDENTIAL. Yay! (And they’re having a huge giveaway right now) Thanks so much to the secret agents who run that blog. And here on Monday, I’ll offer a sneak peek at A Spy Like Me, and a giveaway to celebrate!

Enough about me. Give me the scoop on you. Anything new?

Friday 5 – Some rockin’ new MG and YA must-read blogs!

It must the cool breeze stirring up all the awesome new websites. Who realized that other writers were plotting and planning during the summer heat while I splashed around with my kids?

Without further ado, here are the rockin’ new websites I’ve stumbled upon.

Sleuths, Spies and Alibis

A group blog of middle grade and young adult authors talk about…you guessed it….mysteries. They post every day of the week with book reviews, writing prompts, guest authors, and writing tips. Sounds terrific!

YA Curator

Ever wondered how to find the good stuff worth reading with all the self published and small press titles? This group blogs does it for you. Every Wednesday they post a review. So far they’ve reviewed THE BOYFRIEND THIEF by Shana Norris, DREAM SMASHERS by Angela Carlie, and RED by Kait Nolan. They all look great! Worth checking out every week.

Reel YA

A website where YA books and movies rule. They’ll cover hot topics/open threads, movie news, guest posts, contests and movie/book reviews. They kicked off with vampire week and a guest post by Lisa Gail Green.

YA Confidential

I know you’ve heard of this one. They had 100 followers the first day! They’ll be about everything teen including teen spies, YA books, critiques, giveaways, round tables – pretty incredible with a lot of buzz. In fact, they’ve kicked off their blog with a HUGE agent critique and arc giveaway.

Book Recs of the Rock and Famous

Ever wanted to know what the stars are reading. Don’t look any farther than this blog by the rock star expert, Kelly Polark.

Do-it-yourself degree in Creative Writing.

This blog will cover How-to tips, in depth articles, and writing prompts. It will offer a newsletter and down the road some webinars. Many of us can’t afford to get our MFA but this might help. Looks interesting. It’s just getting started but worth checking out.

Any cool new blogs that I missed?
