Snow in June and a cover reveal sign up.

Three weeks until school gets out.
Three weeks until I jump into summer and all the excitement that brings.
In three weeks there’d better not be any more snow, cold or rain.

People in New Hampshire live for summer. The hot weather. Swimming. Hiking. Okay, most people. Lots love the snow and cold.

I love having my kids at home. Yes, I still get work done. But I love the relaxed pace and the break from a hectic work schedule. A creative break. I take the time to catch up on books in my to-be-read pile. I dream. I have fun with my family.

I fully enjoy not having to make lunches at six in the morning.

For me, it’s a good time to see if I’ve reached my writing goals for the year. And believe it or not, I have. And then some.

I read blog posts saying that writers don’t want to self publish because they just want to write. Well, it’s official. I’ve written more, and written more effectively, in the past year than I did while pursuing the traditional course.

Why is that? That’s probably another blog post for another day.

But in my last two weeks, I’ll be finishing up the first draft of a novella, completing revisions on a novel to send to a beta reader, and formatting another novel for publication this summer.

Yes. A book I love. A story I’m excited about. The one I came very, very close to shelving. In fact, as of a few months ago, I had.

A stand-alone young adult psychological thriller. One that if you’ve been following my blog for any length of time, you’ve heard me talk about it before. Click the picture to go to Goodreads.

The cover reveal is happening on June 17th.

If you’d like to take part in the reveal, you can sign up over at Xpresso Tours.

Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend! Did you reach your goals this past year?

Just signed up for your cover reveal. I cannot wait to read the latest re-vision of HEIST!!
I got next to no writing done this year, but I guess I chose to do that on purpose, the last year before my baby goes to full day… 😉
I can only hope to be as prolific as you are Laura, congratulations on a job well done!

Be glad to help with the reveal!

There was snow in the Adirondack and upper Catskill mountains this weekend. I have never been so devoutly thankful to live in a valley.

All your projects sound exciting, and Heist especially so! Can’t wait for it to come out!

    Thanks everyone!

Ansha – His last year? There’s plenty of time to write. Your kids are only home home – once!

    Thanks Alex!

Louise – We live in a little valley, so we didn’t get any snow but we know people who did. That’s jus twromg!

I agree with you. Here in Maine, not to far from NH, we cherish our summers too. I’m excited for a change of pace, take a more relaxed approach. I’ll be working on my sequel and hanging with the kiddos!

PS: I wish I could partake in your cover reveal, but I’m so backed up with interviews and reviews. I’m taking a summer blogging break, and I need to get these others in. I’ll tweet for you, though.

No problem, Sheri. I think I’ll have enough sign up. That’s why I went with a tour, so there’s no pressure on my writing friends! 🙂

Woohoo! I love cover reveals!! And congrats on all your writing success! I, too, have written more and progressed more with a writing career since deciding to forgo traditional publishing.

Oh, and I hate snow in May! But you already knew that, right? And I, too, am excited to not make lunches at 6am. Not my favorite job.

Heather, Amazing how that happens. 🙂

Can’t wait for your sequel to Mindspeak!

Eager to hear more about Heist. And it’s so fascinating that you, and several other self pubbed authors I’ve followed, have all said they’ve been more productive with their writing taking this route. Hmmmmm
