Aaaaaaagh!

A is for Aaaaaaaagh!

That scream went through my head after I added my name to the already 500 bloggers signed up for this A-Z challenge.

Holy blogfest I’ve never posted every day. So the idea was/is a little bit intimidating. I waited over a month before signing up.  #i’mawimp

But the competitive nature in me spoke through the doubts. I wanted the challenge of posting everyday and keeping it short and sweet like cupcakes, which are one of my favorite desserts.   #eatcupcakeseveryday  #thingsyoudidn’tknowaboutme

That being said some of our best writing happens when we have to be creative within limits. So, yeah, let’s do this.

Being the plotter that I am, I came up with a game plan.

  • Keep it under 200 words.
  • Stay true to my theme of exploring writing tips.
  • Reveal the dark and shady side of myself to old and new friends.
  • Make new friends.

And I’m not sure what my dark and shady is but it sounded good.

So, do you sign up for blogfests on a regular basis? Which ones have been your favorite?

I signed up too, and it took me a couple of minutes to decide…and subsequently freak…

Good luck! You and your game plan…I’m just winging it. 🙂

Great response, Laura! I’m sure it’s useful for some character dialogue, too. I’ll be watching for your tips, even though I’m not participating.

LOL! I know, I think I’m insane too.

This is actually my first blog fest. I just felt like doing something different for a change. 🙂

Like you I waited a few weeks before becoming the 721st to sign up.#noncommital The whole short and consistent won me over and I decided to jump in. #onetoeatatimegal

What a challenge!! Sounds fun, though 🙂 Looking forward to seeing your dark and shady side!

I’m looking forward to checking out everyone’s A-z posts too! Or regular posts!

  6. India Drummond April 1, 2011 at 1:00 pm #

I signed up too, although I’m not entirely sure I’ll make it through the entire month! I’m going to give it a whirl. It could be a great way to freshen up the list of blogs I follow.

I love your ‘A’ word, by the way!

I’ve never done this blogfest thing, but there sure are a lot of you out there doing this one.

Should be fun reading what you all have to post!

  8. Alicia Gregoire April 1, 2011 at 1:34 pm #

Good luck on doing this blogfest. I’ve only done a few small ones.

  9. Jennifer Hoffine April 1, 2011 at 1:34 pm #

Holy blogfest, Batman! I’m right there with you!

I do love blogfests, maybe because I’m a scattered blogger (and plotter), so blogfests give me direction. They also make it easier to make new friends…like a social mixer, I guess.

YEah, the word ‘challenge’ def takes precedence here. I haven’t prepared anything so this could get very very interesting. GOod luck!

I was/am worried about having a “topic” to blog about every day, even though I can basically pick what it is… And I tend to be long-winded, so keeping it even to 250 words will be a bit of a challenge for me!

  12. Laura Marcella April 1, 2011 at 2:24 pm #

Can’t wait to find out what sweet Laura’s dark and shady side is all about, lol!

This is only my third blogfest. I’m really excited for it! I started my blog a couple days before April last year, so I didn’t even know what blogfests were at the time. Once I figured it out, I was wishing I’d had time to join. So I was really excited Arlee decided to do it again this year!

    Mmmm, cupcakes!

  13. Laura Josephsen April 1, 2011 at 2:34 pm #

I’m sorry, now I’m completely lost in thoughts of cupcakes. *wants a cupcake*

Ahem. I have never done a blog challenge before. I only started my blog last year and I’m only this year starting to figure out how to, you know, blog. But I’ve done NaNoWriMo (three different years–well, four if you count the failed first year), and I thought that writing 26 short blog entries sounded WAY easier than writing a novel of at least 50,000 words in a month. So here I am. 😉

I occasionally do blogfests, but holy cats! 500 bloggers and every-day-blogging? #hidesunderabush

Good on you, for taking up the gauntlet!

  15. Jenny Lundquist April 1, 2011 at 3:48 pm #

I’m still trying to figure out what kind of a blog I want to have, so I won’t be participating, but I’m looking forward to reading your posts. And, I have to admit, I’m a little curious about the dark and shady side! :0)
    Good luck!

  16. Summaiyah April 1, 2011 at 4:02 pm #

this is my first time participating too and I felt the same way!!

At the same time, it sounds fun and challenging.

  17. Rebecca Dupree April 1, 2011 at 4:36 pm #

    I went aaaaaah! too!

  18. Margo April 1, 2011 at 4:53 pm #

Ha ha I can sit back and say this A-Z thingie is going to be fun – because I can relax and read instead of brainstorming posts! However, getting my posts down to 200 words would have been an excellent challenge for me. I’m way too wordy! looking forward to seeing the dark and shady side of you 🙂

Jeez, even my comments are wordy. Gaaaaah

  19. Shelli April 1, 2011 at 5:38 pm #

Hello, early bird! Thanks for visiting my blog today. Yay for making new friends! I can’t wait to discover your dark side. 🙂 I like to do a few blogfests, but I don’t stumble upon them very often. It’s fun when I do, and it’s been helpful with my writing. I’m looking forward to your writing tips, as well.

The sound effect in your posts title grabbed my attention right away.

  21. Joyce April 1, 2011 at 7:10 pm #

Love your post! You are going to do so well!

I signed up to, but I don’t know if I’ll make through this weekend.

  22. Lisa Green April 1, 2011 at 7:55 pm #

You know I usually either A. Conflict schedule wise. or B. It doesn’t mesh with the style I chose for my blog. I can’t wait to see you do it though!!! 😀

  23. Hilary April 1, 2011 at 8:27 pm #

Hi Laura .. Aaaaaagh .. I’m still saying it! Real aaaaaagh now .. it’s nearly up to 1100 .. it was easy at 119?! cheers and enjoy – Hilary

  24. Karen Lange April 2, 2011 at 12:26 am #

So far have only signed up for one blogfest. Hoping to do this one next year though. Decided against it b/c I was already saying Aaaaaagh! So thought it best to pass this time around. Great start! 🙂

  25. Katie Ganshert April 2, 2011 at 12:36 am #

Way to go! I don’t think I could do it. And if I tried, my forehead would be well-acquainted with my keyboard. I have a hard enough time posting two days a week!

  26. Tana Adams April 2, 2011 at 2:35 am #

You are soooo brave! I’m going to check in and see how this works for you. It sounds like a fun challenge. ‘A’wesome. 😉

  27. Marcia April 2, 2011 at 3:36 pm #

The post title made me laugh.

I like your reasons for joining the challenge. Me, I’m not ready to commit to daily posts. Aaaaaagh, indeed! 🙂

  28. Vanessa April 3, 2011 at 5:33 pm #

Hello from the A-Z challenge! Looking forward to what you have in store for the month!

  29. Anastasia V. Pergakis April 3, 2011 at 8:48 pm #

Nice game plan! I didn’t really have one when I signed up for the challenge and now I’m biting the bullet to keep up. I did at least make a list of my topics for each day, but beyond that, I had nothing prepared. Hopefully, I can keep up without losing my mind during this month!
