We hear about the death, but the injured (both physically and emotionally) are usually forgotten. They come home without the hero’s welcome that the dead get. At least it seems that way in Canada.
I am very grateful for the sacrifices our service men and women have made/continue to make. I appreciate their efforts to ensure our safety and freedom.
We went to a lovely service at the cemetery in Iowa yesterday. THis morning my son and I watched History channel’s The Story of Us. This episode was about WW2. The sacrifices that soldiers make is unfathomable. They deserve so much more respect than they get.
Definitely! I enjoyed a radio station’s tribute yesterday to those serving in the military. Achingly beautiful. My hat’s off to the families of those who serve, too.

thank you so much for posting this. Very humbling reminder to be thankful.
Those photos are powerful. Thank you, Laura.
My husband found the video. He wanted to show it to my son’s cubscout troop for their Memorial Day badge. I loved it because it is so easy to forget.
